Bloggers Unite!

If you follow me on either twitter or facebook, you should already know that I spent the day with some really awesome people today!! teheh. Can you guess who they are?!
Many of you probably recognize these faces because you might read their blogs too!
Yup, that's Tam, Min, Vu and I meeting Amanda and Sam (who were visiting from Perth) for the first time! It was probably the most awesomest day I've had in the longest time ever and I'm so glad I met them all!
Black&White top, Pink Usamimi, Boots, Stockings, High waisted Skirt, Studded bow belt, key Necklace, flower earrings & piano bag!
This is what I wore out to meet these lovely ladies!! ♥
And let me tell you what my VERY first impression of Amanda and Samantha were.
"WHY ARE YOU GUISE SO TALL!?!?"
Because if you've been following my blog, you should know that I'm only 151cm. Yet these girls are the same age as me and are like ~170cm!!! ;__; I'm so tiny compared to them! ;( ! tehehe Seriously though, look at the photos, I'm stretching my arm up as high as possible and they're bending their knees and yet, the photos were hard to take!
Vu&I's lunch: Takoyaki and Katsudon Bento / Amanda&Sam's lunch: Melbourne's largest Ramen!
We spent ages shopping for Japanese magazines, super expensive Japanese make up/skin care, cheap stuff at Tokuya, taking purikuras, eating yummy Japanese food and well, having lots of fun! ♥
Hehe. I don't even think they knew I was taking a photo of them sneakily like such ;D !
Oh right, I forgot to mentioned. We took A LOT of photos! Hahahaha.
(Waiting for our beautiful Tamtam to show up!)
It was so awesome to be able to meet other people that have similar interests to you and don't fuss over a thing when you want to take 50billion photos of that piece of sushi ! teheh. Ahh, if only Jennifer, Tezza and Marie were here too - then all of my SMV bffls would be here with meee! (definitely one day!)
But yes, I had an awesome time and bought a lot of stuff! (some are for you guise!) Hehe. Oh and Vu won me those plushies & My Melody ear phones from those UFO catchers! (loveyou♥)
Oh and of course, THANK YOU to my wonderful darling boyfriend who tagged along with us girls shopping and helped us take nearly all these photos for us *-*! (for ..all our cameras too ! hahahaha) You're the best!
♥ ♥ ♥
If I visited your country, would you ever be so kind to take me out too? Or which country should I visit?

Hehe, please come to Melbourne everyone and we'll meet up!!
Please check out these blog links because they may or may not also blog about today!

Happy Chinese New Year!
新年快乐
>゜)))彡  Wishing that the Year of the Rabbit will bring each and everyone of you and your family heaps of good luck, better prosperity, good health, love and happiness!!  <゜)))彡
My family aren't actually "celebrating" today because we've had to do it earlier due to certain circumstances. We met up with my Granduncle and a lot of distant relatives (that I don't really know..) a week+ ago at a Chinese restaurant where Granduncle spent sooo much money on us all (;A;).
(Photos aren't good cos relatives are too distant and I don't know them and they looked at me funny when I tried to take the photos v.v /that and the little kids kept turning the tables - so I just gave up in the end and stopped taking photos)
And I met up with my elder siblings two days ago at their place where we ate some yummy food!
(My sister hates it when I take photos of food _ _" she doesn't understand always complains and whines about it)
So well, my family (dad, mum, younger brother and I) just ate dinner together!
(My younger brother likes to tease me when I take photos of the food. He always tries to put his hand over it or pick up a piece while I take a photo ;-;)
However, since I bought a new cheong sam / qi pao (my old one was breaking ;-;) I decided to dress up and take some photos. (I had fun trying out different makeup too hehe) I wasn't sure if I wanted to do my hair up or down so I asked mum. And she said do both ..so ..which do you think is better? lol
Oh, if you follow me on twitter (@melludee_x) you might know that my usamimis (I have pink and blue) arrived today!! (Just in time too!) So I decided to try and do Bunny's "Bunny" look since it's the Year of the Rabbit. But uh ..it obviously failed. I didn't know what I was doing so uh yeah ;_;
But anyway! I hope you're all having a wonderful Chinese New Year and that all you get heaps of ang pao/li xi/red pockets!! ♥ Enjoy the yummy food and spend heaps of times with your family!
♥ ♥ ♥
Do you celebrate Chinese New Year?

I've been spending my days eating lots of kueh mmmmm.

I like Cameras

I think everyone should know by now that I like to fill each blog post with photos.
And I like to fill it with my own photos because I don't particularly like using other people's photos unless it's of a model or a movie or what not. Yeah? And it brightens the site/blog up considerably!
So every chance I get, I take a photo - whether it be of food, people, items, my brother..anything.
Most people are okay with it, like my mum, she's okay with waiting to cut the new cake so I can run to my room and grab my camera to take a photo. Others, are well, quite ...hostile and rude about it.
And I absolutely hate it when people tell me not to.
It's like when I'm trying to take a photo of that chicken wing - sure it's not that interesting, but I want to take the photo! I'm not disturbing anyway since it's my chicken wing - and then someone comes a long says:
"Why are you so weird? Why do you want to take photos of everything? Stop doing that."
But WHYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?
Why can't I document every single tiny bit of information I can with my camera?
I guess it's just as simple as people asking people, why do you write what you do from day to day in a blog? I mean, sure, some people might not enjoy it but it's your blog! And recording things so that you can look back on them later on is really important to me.
I guess some people just don't understand it.

The best thing about a picture is that it never changes. Even when the people in it do.

♥ ♥ ♥
Do you get annoyed when others take photos of things?
Or do you get weird remarks/looks from taking photos of random stuff?

Ps/ I'm incredibly sorry about not posting the Girlfriend Tag up yet! I'm bad and haven't edited it yet. And I also have another video coming up soon. And I'm also working on something.

Pps/ I'll be taking some images of the pigments on my actual eyelids soon for those who asked!

Also you don't have very long until my Giveaway ends!!

Senses; TASTE

This post should be the first of a series that I should be undertaking that will help you and me with getting to know our Sensory Systems. However, if I somehow deem it not useful or not interesting enough; I won't continue it. :)
TASTE (a.k.a Gustation)
As a part of my University degree, Biomedical Science, I'm required to learn about some interesting properties about our sensory systems. And today, I'd like to teach you all about the most common form of sensory; Taste. (yummmmm)
There are five basic tastes that we know as of today.
Sweet (this taste usually indicates energy rich nutrients), Salty (allows modulation diet for electrolyte balance), Bitter (allows the sensing of natural toxins), Sour (typically the taste of amino acids) and Umami (the taste of amino acids).
(Umami is a new taste that was discovered recently by the Japanese)
Anyway, I know that many of you have heard about the "taste map" that is on our tongues.
But new studies show that this map is well ..wrong
Because there should not be any sort of localization on the tongue; and hence all the tastes should be distributed evenly across the tongue. Although, it is true that certain regions are slightly more sensitive to certain tastes than others; but basically - it's evenly spread across your tongue !
(This error occurred when there was a mistranslation of a German paper in to English*-*)
So have you ever wondered why sometimes you could think Miso Soup tastes good; when someone else might think it tastes too sour? And this could very well be a huge problem; especially if you're the cook of the house ;) Well, basicaly, this happens because of your threshold. Each person has their own threshold to how much they can handle of a certain taste. (like how much you can handle sour!)
Think of it as, the more you eat a certain taste; the more "used" to it you will be.
And hence, this is where "ADAPTATION" comes in !
Your tongue has an amazing ability to adapt to higher levels of the same taste (ie, salt) So, the more you eat ..say, a lemon. The more adaptive your tongue becomes; and your threshold increases so that you will be able to intake a higher level of concentration before thinking it's way toooooo sour.
There's also CROSS ADAPTATION, which explains why the above taste map is completely wrong. It's pretty much is; if you have a high intake of say ..sugar; your threshold for something that is sour becomes lower because your taste receptors become more sensitive to this new taste. Hence, this shows that your taste receptors are not specific to only one taste :)
♥ ♥ ♥
But, did you know that, your body can recognize a "deficiency"? So the next time you're craving salt, it might just mean that you really are lacking it !
What taste are you most accustomed with?
and have you ever thought something tasted fine, when others thought it tasted too much of a taste?

I think mine would be either sweet or salt. Which are both probably bad things ._.
Hence I always think things taste too bland when everyone else is like tooo saltyyy!!

Swimminggg

After all the junk food that Vu and I ate, we went swimming yesterday.
Unfortunately, because my belongings would be unattended for a few hours while I was in a pool; I chose not to bring my camera hence the photos taken were at home or with my mobile phone. (Yes, there were lockers to use but I still didn't want to leave my camera in there :/)
* ** * * * * *
I wore this simple outfit because I thought it'd be easy to change out of and etc. And basically because the day was super duper hot. It was (I think) 29degrees celcius? And well the sun was out quite strongly.
I just realised that my outfit for that day was quite cheap ♥ !
Two layered Summer dress ($10) ; 3/4 black leggings ($10) ; White shoes ($7 cos they were Kids size 2)
I didn't wear any jewellery or accessories at all ..since I was going swimming and I didn't want to lose anything in the pool :( ! But yeah, I haven't swam in ages but when my body entered the water; I immediately adjusted and loved it. My history with swimming is wonderful and I love it so much :)
When I was younger, I couldn't swim at all. And when we had those School Swimming Lessons, I was always placed in the last group and always swallowed a lot of water from drowning. But then during the Summer holidays between Grade 4 and 5; my dad taught me how to swim. (He used to be a Swimming teacher at one stage of his life amongst the many others he had) We went to the local Pool every weekend and he forced me to do laps and taught me all the different strokes. That coming year, I was placed in the highest group for the School Swimming Lessons. (I was so happy and my dad was so proud ♥) ! ^-^" We continued to swim every weekend until I reached a certain year in high school (had to study more ): )
* * * * * * * *
My stamina and strength has decreased a lot but I was still able to do all the strokes (except I can't seem to do Butterfly anymore :/). But yes, Vu was never taught how to swim so I spent 1-2hours teaching him the basics and getting him used to swimming. For the rest of the time (We stayed there for around 3.5hours) we raced around the pool and played around until we felt tired!
We were starving when we came out so we took out our "baby" (the watermelon) which we had bought earlier (for less than $2) at the shops and cut it up ~ ♥ Mmmm ..it was so refreshing and delicious ^-^"!
I had heaps of fun swimming around with my boyfriend and it made me remember why I love swimming so much. I think my body moves much better in water than out of it.
♥ ♥ ♥
Is there something that you used to enjoy that you no longer do anymore?
Apart from swimming, I used to cycle a lot - I should start again. Anyone wanna go to Jells Park in the holidays?
Oh and I was happy to come home and receive a late birthday present in the mail from one of my awesome friends, Stoophie ^-^"  Thanks you awesome, you! His name is "Saggy" because of an inside joke and that the Japanese word for rabbit is "Usagi" He's so cuteeeee.

Note: A lot of you have been adding me on facebook recently; and I appreciate it but I would like to request that you leave a message telling me that you're a blog reader so I know ! Thanks ♥

Sun+Fooddd.

The weather in Melbourne has been so nice recently; it's sunny and warm and the blue skies are gorgeous ! The only problem with this is that ...is I'm more inclined to sit outside and do nothing instead of studying for my upcoming exams. Urghhhhh. Does NOT want exams :(
It would also seem that Vu and I have been eating quite a bit of yummy food lately ;)
I think it's common for us to always end up spending the majority of our money on food just because we don't feel like eating anything that is too bland or just plain.
So the other day; we bought Carbonara and Chips with Gravy at The Den ... mmmm. It was so yummy ;) Vu seemed to like eating this Carbonara so much that he was complaining that he wanted to eat Carbonara again for the next few days following that. So to satisfy his cravings; I went to his place and we cooked heaps of food..
As you can see on the left; we made a cheesyyy pasta (with ham) ; and on the right is actually what we ate for breakfast hahahah. That is, chips with gravy; pancakes (with cheese) and chicken. (We are too unhealthy) Mmmm. Yeah, I was too full to eat anything after all that delicious food. I love him.
♥ ♥ ♥
What's your favourite type of food? And can you cook it?

ps. go to Pooper's blog to see what she received in my giveaway ;)

Edit: Since Vu and I ate so much unhealthy stuff ..we're going swimming tomorrow :D !

Bloggers - China Bar Buffet

As many of you would know, I had my bloggers meetup for my birthday yesterday. Except only four of us in the photo are bloggers ! But that's all good because I still had heaps of fun with these awesome people :D ! ♥
From left to right (around the table) ; Tam, Ben, Steve, Richard, Vu, Melody and Min ♥
We celebrated my birthday with lots of food at China Bar Buffet. I've heard lots of good reviews about the place and I wasn't disappointed ! But anyways, I was so happy when gorgeous Tam from (http://tamnguyen91.blogspot.com) and beautiful Min from (http://summer-graffiti.blogspot.com) said they'd come! Tam brought her boyfriend, Ben (yay for non-Vietnamese person on the guest list!) . And Vu brough two of his high school buddies, Steve and Richard, to come so I could meet them as well :)
But on to the food, here are some of the desserts that Min and I ate! (Didn't get any pictures of Tam's food because she was sitting on the other side!) I was going to post the other food plates too but I thought the desserts were much more cuter and you should look at that instead :) There were much more desserts but unfortunately, one can only eat that much before wanting to throw up.

Min left after the food; and the rest of us went to Glen and took some sticker photos. etc ♥
Anyways, I didn't really take a lot of nice photos of the food because Min's camera is much more awesome, and I left it up to her to take all the delicious foods. That, and I had to pretend to look for food whilst Tam and Min sneakily took some photos of food ^-^" ! It was so nice being around some other people who understand the need to take photos of everything ..and the fact that it can be super embarrassing to take photos alone ;P

I uploaded all of the photos on to my facebook so if I know you well enough, add me (facebook.com/melludee)
(Knowing enough = I see your comments often on my blogs..)
♥ ♥ ♥
Have you ever went to an outing where you've never met anyone there before?

I always find it hard to meet new people because I'm not very social and I get really shy. I'm just lucky that my boyfriend is willing to help me start conversations ...and that I met with some pretty awesome people ♥
Also THANK YOU to Min and Tam who bought me presents even though they didn't need to at all !

Edit: My birthday is on October 10th (10/10/10 this year!) but I had this early because I have Uni all of next week and I have some other parties to plan/attend *-*

Fooood.

Hey everyone ~
Sorry I haven't updated in the past two or three days(?) I've been busy with assignments and other assessments. And exams are drawing nearer so I need to study pretty hard T~T! But anyways, because as many of you would know, I always seem to read your blogs that have yummy pictures in them when I'm hungry. So here's some payback ~ ♥
(Urgh I hate these ugly spacings that the new editor seems to do on blogger - does anyone know how to fix this?)
On the left is 'Grape Blended Ice with Grape Jelly' from Easy Way Tea Indulgence; On the Right is some Fruit Jellies I bought at Jerky House. Both of these are amaazzzzzinnnggggg. The drink is the perfect amount of sweet and well, the jellies on the right are some soft and chewy and sweet and .. I want some now. (I think this payback is backfiring on me!)
This is 赤大福 or "Red Daifuku". This is a Japanese sweet that consists of a glutinous rice outer cake like thing and some sort of sweet filling. Mine was filled with sweet red bean paste. I loved this so much~ I bought it the other day from one of the local Korean groceries. (Why are there hardly any Japanese groceries? Just Korean....at least they sell Japanese things too.) But yes. If you haven't tried mochi or daifuku before, you should definitely try it :D !
Vu and I bought this the other day for lunch(?) from The Den at University. It's spinach and ricotta cheese canneloni served with a side of chips and gravy. This was the beeesssttt! :D I absolutely love canneloni; and I love love love loveeee spinach with cheese. I think the combination just works perfectly. ♥ And well, I love gravy. So, this was perfect for lunch!
I bought these two things not knowing what the hell was inside. It was only like $1 each and well, I just like trying random things like this. And the packaging looked so intriging ! :D Anyways, inside were some sort of ..chip ? rice type of chip? I don't know how to explain it. (Sorry for not taking a photo) But it WAS nice. The left one had seaweed flavoured chippies; and the right was just really sweet and yummy. You should probably buy this if you ever see it ...just to try it out :3!
♥ ♥ ♥
I have a tonne more pictures of food to show you guys but that will be for another blog :)
What's your favourite type of cuisine?

Ps. I'm going to be sending out an email soon to those who wanted to meetup.

Cheap or Expensive Food

How I love the smell of discounted things *-*! Actually, no.
I just like the smell of food / drinks that are on sale ! And because I am Asian and therefore, stereotypically "cheap" - I will buy things in bulk ..just because it's cheap x3! Well, my mum does at least. Just look at the below picture ! It's from the convenience store, 7-eleven. All that above was $1 each. I don't know about where you live ..but that's pretty cheap for some of the stuff :)

According to the facebook event page, this was what was included in the one day, $1 sale.
Mother 300ml Slim cans, Nestlé Medium bars, Twisties, Burger Rings & Cheetos 90g, Nestlé Drumstick Ice-creams, munch Cheese & Bacon rolls, Donuts, Four'N Twenty Snack Pies, Goulburn Valley flavoured milk, Golden Circle LOL! Juice and Berocca Twist 'n' Go
Some of these things can be pretty expensive normally.

So, basically, I got home and found: 12 Golden Circle LOL! Juice cans, 3 90g Burger Ring packets, 8 Four'N Twenty Snack Pies and 8 Nestle Drumstick Ice-creams! Oh mummy&daddy are so kind x3
(Supposedly there was more but my brother ate it all before I got home ;A;!)
However in saying that, I don't actually mind paying a lot to eat good food. Well, depending on the place and how good/yummyyyy the food really is.

The flavours in the box we got from left-right, top-bottom were: Champagne, Strawberry, Excellence 70% Cocoa Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Pistachio and Passion. (I thought the box was pretty*-*)
But I don't know if these were worth it. Lindt Delice - packet of 6 for $13. We did not get to choose the flavours we wanted :( Hence, why I think it wasn't really worht the $13.
The only ones I actually enjoyed were the Strawberry, Milk Chocolate and Pistachio (kind of). I guess it might be because I don't really like the taste of alcohol, that I didn't like Champagne. And that I don't like Passionfruit, hence why I didn't like Passion. And well, I don't like dark chocolate ..so 70% was too bitter for me :(!
♥ ♥ ♥
Whilst I am on this topic, I was wondering, if the bloggers that wanted to meet for my birthday, would mind going to a buffet / restaurant?
(That might cost a bit ... maybe like $30 per person for lunch?)

Do you take the risk with expensive food and hope that it's yummy; or just go for the cheap ones that you know taste good?

When I confirm the details, I'll be sending out an email with information so I'll be needing your emails and food requirements! (Also I hope no one is opposed to the South-Eastern suburbs?) And probably on a Saturday or Sunday since I know that other universities have already had their midsemester break ...and for some reason ours is in between Week 10 and 11 ;A;

Munchies

I'm sorry that I haven't been posting properly as of late, I'm still pretty busy with assessments and mid-semester tests :/
In order to help me focus and study for my tests, Vu took me around uni the other day and we bought random snacks/food for us to munch on so that there would be no excuse for us to leave the library and stop studying ! (Although I'm not sure if this turned out to be a good idea since we didn't leave, or a bad idea because we ended up eating/talking instead of working ..)
f
Pepsi Max, Korean Corn chips, Wicked Fizz Sour candy, Nerds Rope, Zombie Chews, Pop Rocks and Beef Jerky. ♥

I've never tried Pop Rocks before that day, (It's not sold widely in Australia) so Vu decided to get me some xD It was definitely an odd sensation x) I didn't really enjoy the flavour that much though. I think I enjoyed the beef jerky and corn chips the most though! They tasted delicious :)

Sorry the photo quality looks really bad. This picture was originally very dark and I just brightened the image - hence pretty bad quality.
I thought I'd write in response to a few comments that were left on my blog post: Trust.
It sounds like many of you have had to go through the feeling of your trust being broken or breaking someone else' trust :( It's pretty sad to see so many of us having our trust broken by someone we care about. And I guess the thing about trust is that it works both ways. Sometimes in a relationship, you really have to sacrifice a few things to make the other happy :) It really depends on the type of person the other is. For example, my boyfriend and I are both rather "jealous" (?) type of people, so we respect each other's needs by not mixing with the opposite gender a lot. I'm not saying that either of us are void of the opposite gender, because that would be impossible. But we understand the boundary between friends and getting too close. Yeah? :) I accomodate for him and he accomodates for me :) And I think that's how a stable relationship can be formed ♥
♥ ♥ ♥
I've got a few nice blog posts coming up so stay tuned to see what's coming up!

Do you also buy lots of random snacks when it's cram/study time?

I am TIRED.

Day 3 ..over.
Today Vu and I rushed around buying things (Spotlight & Glen) .. and then back to Uni so that I could attend my Japanese seminar where I had my test and etc. I am ..REALLY tired right now so I apologize in advance if what I type isn't actually coherent. :|

Chicken parma with chips @ The Den
Oh. On another note, I bought one of the things I`ll be putting in to my giveaway - I still need to go look for some other things though! :) . But yeah. The picture is totally irrelevant to today ..but because were so busy with everything, we didn't take any photos. I`ll post some pictures tomorrow of the things I bought (: ! Ps. Do any boys read this blog and if so, should I include some items in to my giveaway that males would also like?
♥ ♥ ♥
I am slowly running out of steam ...I've been sleeping for 4 hours for past three days ;-;
Eaten anything yummy lately ? ^-^
